Kart Track Rules

Everything you need to race the Swainsboro kart track — general rules, race-day procedures, and the full engine/tech rules. Updated for 2026. Rules subject to change.

General Rules & Fees

Admission and Fees

  • Admission: $15.00, Ages 6 to 11: $10.00, 5 & Under: Free
  • Entry Fee (Per Class): $25.00 - Make sure you sign up in correct class
  • Transponder Fee: $10 for first transponder and $5.00 for each additional class
  • Pit Rental: $20.00 (Deadline for pit rental will be 12 noon the day before race). Reserved Parking: Call or text 478-697-5165 to reserve parking Mon-Fri 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Row A $20.00, Row B $20.00, Row E $20.00 & all other parking is free. (Rigs or campers over 45’ must pit on Row B from B1 to B13). If you want to pit out of the side of your trailer you must reserve and pay for 2 spots.

Rain Check Policy

Absolutely no money refunded. Rain checks will be honored only for tickets that have the appropriate number for rainouts. There will be NO exceptions. Make-up race date will be determined and announced at time of postponement. Again, there will be NO cash refunds. Any time a race is cancelled and half or more of the features have been completed, the race will be considered complete and no rain checks will be issued.

Class Registration

It is the driver’s or crew members complete responsibility to make sure not to leave sign up before confirming they are registered in correct class by age, type of engine, and tires.

No refunds for class entries or class changes after sign up complete.

80% payback to top three (3) in each class.

Tune your radio to 91.7 FM for track info from our announcer.

Safety and Conduct

  • All drivers must sign waiver & release form.
  • All drivers 17 & under must have parental release signed.
  • 1st Priority Safety: DO NOT GO OUT ON RACE TRACK.
  • All drivers must attend driver’s meeting. If roll call is utilized, drivers not at meeting will lose fastest qualifying lap and may also be required to start at back of feature races entered.
  • No Alcohol on concreted areas. Controlled Substances will not be tolerated anywhere on the property of Swainsboro Raceway.
  • Any driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol will be required to take an Alcohol Analyzer Test. If positive, the driver will be charged with DUI by the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Department.
  • All drivers are responsible for the actions and conduct of their Crew, Family, and Friends. We are promoting a family atmosphere. Violence, profanity or fighting will not be tolerated.
  • Anyone caught fighting will go to Jail and pay the $500.00 cash bond. If anyone approaches another go kart or goes to another racers pit and trouble ensues, that person will be “wrong”.
  • Swainsboro Raceway reserves the right to fine, suspend, or bar any driver, owner, pit crew or spectator for unruly conduct. Examples, but not limited to: cussing, retaliation, hand gestures, and any bodily contact.

Adult Class Entry

15 years of age grants you opportunity to register in adult class. This option may be withdrawn for certain events or discretion of Track Officials. No refunds will be issued if option is withdrawn. Driving ability, lap times, and parental conduct are part of the measures used to determine if this option is revoked. Legal proof of age documents are required. A legal advancing in age minor consent form will have to be signed by legal guardian. Swainsboro Kart Track reserves the right to withdraw this option at any time. Racer cannot go back to a plate class for local events, and cannot run both classes in an event.

These rules are a guideline and can be subject to changes at any time by the Track Director.

Race-Day Info & Procedures

The official site to buy gas is the Kwik Shop in Swainsboro. The Kwik Shop is located on Hwy. 80 (East Main Street), next to Daniel’s Chevrolet.

1st Priority Safety

  • Do not go out onto track.
  • Safety gear: Approved helmet, neck collar, racing jacket, racing gloves, chest protector for youth plate classes. Hair cannot be exposed.
  • A 10 lb. fire extinguisher is required in every pit. (Mandatory)
  • Engines can only be cranked while in the grid or at your parking spot.
  • If you or your crew go up the stairs or in the scoring tower you will be disqualified.
  • Transponders: Drivers responsibility: If you leave grid area, it is too late. 2 lap courtesy if do not leave grid area, if you get to grid on time, you will enter track at rear of field at discretion of staff.
  • Only one crew member per kart is allowed in the staging area and that person must leave when their kart goes onto the track.
  • Do not bring your kart stands onto the grid area.
  • All karts must weigh after qualifying.
  • The top 3 karts must weigh after feature races.
  • After qualifying begins, only drivers in the scale/tech area.
  • It is your responsibility to be lined up and ready to race on the grid. If you are not lined up within 3 minutes of the checkered flag of the previous race, you will start on the rear of the field.
  • Once the green flag falls, no one will be allowed to pull onto the track for that race. The only exception is if you are held up in the tech area from a previous race.
  • All races will start single file.
  • Do not pass anyone until the green light is turned on. On starts and restarts, passing on the inside is not allowed until you reach the flag stand.
  • If you are caught passing before the green light comes on, on the initial start or restart, you will be charged with 1 caution, 2x you will not be scored for the remainder of the race.
  • If the leader fires early 2x, he will be placed in the rear of the field, unless there are 5 or less entries, then driver will be asked to leave that race.
  • Do not leave seat of kart while on track unless directed by track official. No working on karts on track.
  • We do not throw a caution for every spin. If a kart spins or breaks and is on the infield or off the track and it is determined that it is at a safe distance from the racing action, the caution will not be thrown. If you spin, get your kart moving or get it away from the racing action.
  • If it is determined that you bring out a caution intentionally you will be black flagged.
  • Driver will be asked to leave track after being responsible for 2 cautions
  • Engines will be restarted 2x on the track during class. Kart will be rolled to inside of track or removed from track after 2 tries.
  • Lapped karts (passing is the responsibility of driver). You cannot run over karts that are being passed. Slow down or go around at the proper point on track.
  • If you enter the pits for any reason during your race, stay in the pits.
  • There is a time limit on each race, determined by number of entries
  • Total laps: Qualifying will be green white checkered. Features will be 15 laps, 4 entries will be 10 laps, and 3 or less entries will be 8 laps
  • If your kart finishes in the top 3 in any class and is raced again, make sure you bring it back to the tech area, no matter where it finishes in another race.
  • Post race: Kart engines are to be shut off before leaving concrete area. No driving karts on scales. No kart haulers in tech area. No loitering in tech area post race. Officials will have you enter area as needed. 1 person in tech shed with engine being inspected.
  • Claimer rule for Predator class/classes: The track can claim any motor or any part in the Predator classes at any time. If your motor is claimed by the track you will be given another motor or parts claimed.
  • Protest (with $200.00) must occur within ten (10) minutes after the race is over.
  • Make sure you turn your transponders in before you leave for the night. Turn transponders in at the registration booth. Do not bring the transponders to the scoring tower.
  • The rules and the classes are subject to change.
  • NKA motor rules in the classes it pertains to. This does not mean we will operate under NKA rules as a whole. In most cases it will be NKA rules; however in some cases the Swainsboro Kart Track rules will supersede NKA rules.
  • If it is determined that a kart is deemed illegal by the track tech official after post race inspection or after a protest the first offense will be a disqualification(s) for the night. The second offense will be a 6 month suspension. Any offense after that will be a year’s suspension. Trophy & money will be forfeited.
  • The tech official’s decision is final.
  • Any questions, suggestions, or doubts regarding any matters should be directed, in a civilized manner, to kart track officials for a clarification, preceding post race (tech) for current event, preferably before pre race for current event.
  • The absence of a specific rule does not imply approval, consent or permission regarding that subject.
Predator / GR8TP Engine & Tech Rules

GR8TP Sportsman Rules 2026

  • These rules are intended to keep the engine as Stock Out Of The Box As Possible. There are no gray areas. If they do not specifically state that something is allowed, it will automatically be illegal. All parts must be Factory Predator parts.
  • Harbor Freight Engines Only: 212CC Engines only: Models: 60363 only.
  • Should any parts that are in question arise that are not clearly addressed in these rules, it is the duty of the racer to obtain clearance from Local Tech Inspector prior to entering the class. If in the opinion of the LTI the intent of the modification was a performance gain, the racer will be DQ’d from all classes entered that night.
  • Officially the Spirit and Intent discretion will override all rules mentioned below. If there is not a measurement given below, It Must Remain Stock. If it does not say below you can add or take off or modify, it must remain Stock.
  • All OEM casting marks must be visible. All OEM Factory Stampings must be visible at time of inspection, NO TUMBLING OR POLISHING OR DEBURRING.
  • No interchanging parts from different Serial # or generation groups of engines.
  • Local track reserves the right to swap any part/Complete engine off the engine being raced with a known OEM part/complete engine.
  • Track has option of updating the rules if any parts are found to be OEM updates that are not covered in this manual, anytime during season.
  • (OPTIONAL) Original Fuel tank cap must be completely sealed. Drilled 1/8 hole allowed in cap to vent, fuel pick up tube must be in stock location. Fuel line must remain ¼” id.
  • Fuel pump can only be pulsed off of valve cover, Not side cover. Approved fuel pump only.
  • Blower housing OEM. Pull start must be in original location at end of race. Vertical Face of Pull Start can be taped or a sticker applied. Angled vent holes must remain exposed.
  • Stock air box. Air can only enter carb through OEM filter. Must pass combustible spray test. Air can only enter air box from 4 square holes at bottom and end of stock air box. Any unused OEM holes must be plugged, not to accept air.
  • HEADER: NKA Adult Pipe Rules apply.
  • Optional: Mini Pipe and Muffler can be raced. Pipe can be wrapped but not muffler. 10-15” long .685 max id nipple. .750 od pipe max. RLV B-91 mini onlyPart#4117 5.470-5.600. MUFFLER IS MANDATORY. MUST be able to unscrew from pipe to measure inside baffles. Muffler must be completely tight against pipe and braced. No sealer permitted. Must meet height rules of 14.5” to surface. Aftermarket studs are allowed for clearance of Doubled Nuts, safety wired coupling nuts allowed. Flange: .500 flange (MAX) allowed. Muffler must be connected to pipe at completion of race. Broken pipe (2pcs), not connected by bracing warrants DQ(Safety) from that class.
  • SPRINGS and RETAINERS: Springs will not be flipped to pass dead weight check.
  • Height cannot be more than .040 difference at any location from a confirmed starting point. Must pass ¼” coil bind check on one side of block. Max OD of .800 Must Pass Track’s 10.8 and 18# check. .071 Max Wire Diameter. Max 4 coils. Length will be compared to known stock spring. Maximum Length: 1.280”. Springs must be made of a magnetic material. Spring must slide freely over post and make contact with base of tester.
  • Retainers: Must be OEM for Series of Engine raced. Must be Magnetic
  • Spring Pocket cannot be altered.
  • FLYWHEEL: MANDATORY NO STOCK STEEL FLYWHEELS ALLOWED. PVL 212 Aluminum 12 Fins 28 Degree, 3.8Lbs.
  • TIMING: 28 degrees (-1 +0)
  • Ignition: 11 ohms max and must show a reading. Resistor must be present and functional.
  • CC 28 must stay in Plug
  • VALVE TRAIN: No sealer allowed on valve cover. Stock angle on valves with dish only, OEM. Stock material only.
  • OEM GASKET MATERIAL ONLY/No Copper No aluminum. Minimum .009”
  • Do Not Sink Valves.
  • No Sealer on Crankcase Cover
  • BEARINGS: Steel Balls only (9) No ceramic bearings. Balls, race and housing must be magnetic.
  • CARBURETOR: No Sealer allowed on complete carb assembly.
  • HUAYI or RUI*ING or SP. There must be a factory edge, not rounded or smoothed over, all the way around the entrance and exit to the venturi of carburetor. No extra holes drilled in carburetor anywhere. Choke assembly must be in place and functional. Venturi .608” Must-Go. .615” NO GO Bore. Throttle bore .751” No-Go. Minimum Protrusion into venturi Huayi: .488 SP, Ruixing: .478 E Tube: Minimum length is 1.092”. Hole diameter must be 0.036” No-Go. Bottom holes can be either 2 or 4 holes. The minimum diameter is 0.154”.Phenolic Plate: Inside Hole .066 NO GO (Cannot Enter Either Side) Bolt holes stock No altering finish. No altering Bore finish or shape. Fuel bleed off slot must be unaltered. Thickness must be maintained at .257” minimum. Plate must be flat and maintain consistent thickness at all points. Gaskets: Only one gasket is allowed between the carburetor and phenolic spacer, and if a restrictor plate is used a total of two gaskets permitted.

  • 57, 58, 59 gear for HT3/ST3
  • 59, 60. 61 gear for Treaded Tires

GR8TP HEMI SPORTSMAN CLASS 2026

  • No Shims or seals under Valve Springs. Mechanical Seals may be removed
  • HEAD: Gasket surface to area between valve seats .415 minimum. Sealer Allowed on gasket area. .891 no go on X seat, .971 no go on Intake seat. 68 mm chamber minimum. Depth of bowl on both ports .9375
  • VALVES: 2.520 long .214 diameter stem. Intake .986 .055 dish Exhaust 1.064 .071 dish. 24 GRAMS
  • RETAINERS: Lash Caps on Intake and Exhaust retainers. Retainer 6 grams
  • ROCKER PIN= 1.025 length, .314 dia.

KWIK SHOP SPORTSMAN CLASS Tin Head 2026

  • These rules apply to Harbor Freight Standard Head Engines. 212 CC Model #69730 only.
  • No Generation I or II Engines Allowed
  • VALVE TRAIN: No grinding or Bending on rocker arms. No bending rocker studs. Studs must remain stock length and thread pitch.
  • Shims allowed: .020 max on Intake and Exhaust or 1 oil seal on Intake and Exhaust, Maximum .025. Shape cannot be altered. No Swaging, bottom must remain flat. SEAL MUST FREELY SEPARATE FROM INSIDE SPRING.
  • Rocker Arm Adjuster Nut .825 long .491 diameter
  • *WARNING: Valves must be OEM from original head castings. No swapping of Valves from original Casting or Generation of Engine. Stock Valve Angle with OEM dish only. Stock Material only.
