General Rules
2024 General Rules
- Pit Passes…All persons entering the pit area must have a pit pass and sign a release form, and must wear armband on arm only.
- Rain Check Policy…Absolutely no money refunded. Rain checks will be honored only for tickets that have the appropriate number for rainouts. There will be NO exceptions. Make-up race date will be determined and announced at time of postponement. Again, there will be NO cash refunds. Any time a race is cancelled and two features have been completed, the race will be considered complete and no rain checks will be issued.
- Drivers… A driver must be 14 years of age with proof of age. Any driver under the age of 18 must have a notarized Release of Liability Statement and permission from their parents or legal guardian.
- MANDATORY: All drivers must wear approved helmet and full one or two-piece fire suit, racing shoes, and racing gloves.
- All drivers must attend driver’s meeting.
- Any driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol will be required to take a Breath-O-Lizer Test. If positive, the driver will be charged with DUI by the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Department.
- No participant shall subject any employee or official to improper or abusive language or signs at any time.
- All drivers are responsible for the actions and conduct of their crew.
- If any driver or crew member crosses onto racing surface to talk, inspect, exchange words (with another driver), or work on race car, crew member will be removed from race track and car in which crew member is affiliated with will be black flagged and disqualified.
- Speeding in the pit area will result in one of the following: Laps being taken away, or being sent to the pit, or being suspended.
- Anyone caught fighting will go to jail and pay the $500.00 Cash Bond. If anyone approaches another race car or goes to another racers pit and trouble ensues, that person will be considered “in the wrong.”
- Swainsboro Raceway reserves the right to fine, suspend, or bar any driver, owner, or pit crew for unruly conduct.
- All drivers must use raceceivers for hot laps, heats, qualifying, and features. Raceceivers and Transponders are mandatory anytime your car goes onto the racetrack.
- A RACECAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN IN TWO CLASSES ON THE SAME NIGHT.
- This rule book is a guideline and can be subject to changes, drivers will be notified at the next driver’s meeting of any changes, and the rule change will take effect the next week. Weight may also be added for infraction of any rules at the tech inspector’s discretion. Rule changes will be posted on our website.
- THE ABSENCE OF A SPECIFIC RULE DOES NOT IMPLY APPROVAL,

Race Car Rules
2024 Race Cars
1.
All Cars Must Have Legible Numbers.
2.
All Cars Must Have Front And Rear Tow Hooks. Mandatory!
- ALL CARS MUST HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND IT MUST BE MOUNTED IN REACH OF
Driver. Fire Suppressant System Optional.
4.
All Cars Must Have At Least One (1) Drive Shaft Safety Loop.
- TOP FIVE (5) CARS MUST COME ACROSS SCALES AFTER HEAT AND FEATURES. ALL
Cars Qualifying For Position Must Cross Scales.
- ALL CARS MUST HAVE A FIVE (5) POINT RACING HARNESS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH
A Minimum Of Three (3) Inch Shoulder Harness And Lap Belt.
- WINDOW NETS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND MUST BE IN THE UP POSTION WHILE
On Track.
8.
All Doors Must Be Welded Shut.
9.
All Glass And Other Flammable Materials Must Be Removed.
- ALL CARS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AT LEAST A 4 POINT ROLL CAGE MADE FROM TUBING WITH A MINIMUM DIAMETER OF (1 ½ “) AND A MINIMUM WALL THICKNESS OF .090. ROLL CAGE MUST BE WELDED TO FRAME RAILS AND ALL CONNECTIONS MUST BE FULLY WELDED. A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) HORIZONTAL BARS IN THE PASSENGER
Door And Three (3) Horizontal Bars In The Drivers Door Are Required.
- MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF FOUR (4) BARS IN FRONT OF DRIVER.

- RACING STEERING WHEEL WITH QUICK RELEASE OK.
- NO BATTERY ALLOWED IN DRIVERS COMPARTMENT.
- STOCK DASHBOARD OK. FABRICATED DASHBOARD RECOMMENDED.
- NO MIRRORS ALLOWED IN ANY CLASS
- NO TRACTION CONTROL OF ANY KIND ON ANY CARS AT SWAINSBORO RACEWAY. 21. Attention racers, after speaking with many racers, tracks, and sanctioning bodies Swainsboro Raceway has made the decision to amend our current tire rule effective immediately. The same compounds we currently allow will still be allowed, but there will absolutely no tire treatment or conditioners of any kind. We will reserve the right to test any tire in any class at any time we see fit. There will also be a 100.00 tire protest fee implemented for fairness of competition. On a separate note, grooving and siping will now be allowed in the 604 class. We feel it is in the best interest of our racers to be on the same rules package as surrounding local tracks and sanctioning bodies.

$6400 Top five cars in each feature come to scale. Driver only! No crew members or you will forfeit your position.
- A Visual Protest must be filed with the technical inspector at least 30 minutes prior to the feature race. A visual protest requires no tools for removal of any parts. If it cannot be seen, it is not a visual protest.
- An Engine Protest must be filed and paid in cash within 10 minutes after the drop of the checkered flag. You must finish within the top three to be able to protest. The third place car must protest the second place car in order to protest the first place car. A protested car can back-protest the car that protested you.
- Any top three finisher may protest any other top three finisher on shocks.
- Refusal of a protested car to tear down will result in loss of purse and points for that night.
- First infraction found by the technical inspector will end the protest.
- During the protest, only 2 members from the protested team for (tear down) and one member from the protesting team will be allowed in the tech area. The member from the protesting team is allowed in the tech area to see that each item is checked, not to inspect or measure anything. This is the technical inspector’s job.
- If protested car is found legal, he will receive half of the protest money. If found illegal, he will lose all money and points earned for that night, and the protesting car will get half the protest money. In the event of a double protest; if both cars are found illegal, the winner of the protest will receive half of protest money, track will retain half.
- The track reserves the right to inspect any part at any time on any racecar at the speedway.
- If the protested car forfeits, the track will retain $100 of protest fee. The remainder will be returned to the protesting team.
- Any driver or car that refuses to tear down or is found illegal two times in the point’s season will lose all points accumulated, and be subject to suspension. 11 Attention racers, after speaking with many racers, tracks, and sanctioning bodies Swainsboro Raceway has made the decision to amend our current tire rule effective immediately. 2022 440 Rules Basics:
- Must be a stock 4 cylinder car
- No turbo or rotary engines allowed
- Stock-type fuel injection or stock manufactured carburetor only (Motorcraft, etc...). ONE 0.800" maximum throttle body spacer may be used. No Holley, Weber or other racing carburetors allowed. Carburetor must be stock for engine.
- Motor must be stock appearing and in stock location
- Motor must match car (ex. Honda must have Honda engine)
- Any air or oil filters (K&N, etc.)
- Intake must be a stock intake. No Skunk 2, etc.
- No cold air intakes for fuel injections – must be stock type breather system. A flexible rubber or plastic hose may be used in place of the stock air box tube. No smooth metal or smooth plastic tubing allowed. A cone type filter is allowed and may be connected directly to throttle body or the allowed tubes.
- Aftermarket radiators okay – radiators can be braced for support
- Aftermarket (racing) headers are allowed and will be subject to claim. Claim is $300 and includes only the header itself. Claims must be made with the lead tech inspector and must be approved by
Scdra.
- Computer may be chipped and/or tuned. A standalone ECU and aftermarket harness are allowed. Ignition coil must remain OEM
Weight Rules:
- All cars Must weigh 2,200 pounds with car and driver after the race Exceptions: 50 lb. weight break for HANS or like device 50 lb. weight break for containment seat
Body / Wheel / Tire Rules:
- Any front wheel drive car
- No all-wheel drive cars or all wheel steer cars
- Must have stock rear and front suspensions as from factory, Slotting of factory mounting holes allowed.
- No racing springs (lowering) or shocks allowed. Springs may be heated, clamped or use spring rubbers. Springs must be within 2’ of factory installed height
- Rear control arms should be stock but may be braced / strengthened / repaired. No aftermarket.
- Stock type aftermarket suspension bushings are allowed
- Stock production cars only
- Mirrors are allowed
- Must have a quality welded MINIMUM 4 point roll cage inside the car with a minimum of 0.95" thickness tubing – SCDRA has final say in safety of the cage
- Minimum 3 driver door bars / 2 side door bars – 6 or more point cages okay
- No push bars past firewall. Roll cage may extend forward behind bumpers. Bumpers must be covered in some way with no exposed sharp corners
- Aftermarket racing wheels allowed – 7 inch maximum. NO BEAD LOCKS
- Street legal DOT tires required. No drag radials, mud grip lug tires, racing tires or racing recapped tires allowed. Directional tires are allowed.
- Tires can be mixed and matched for stagger
- Aftermarket nose pieces allowed.
- 6 inch metal support to extend out behind nosepiece or to hold grill in place allowed
- No push bars to extend outside of bumpers or beyond nose piece.
- Some sheet metal will be allowed for repairs. Cars should remain as close to stock appearing as possible. Adding sheet metal to bodies may result in a weight penalty being assessed.
- Gutting of body is allowed.
Safety:
- RACING (not motorcycle) helmet, SA 2005 or newer is required.
- Minimum single-layer fire suit required (SA 3.2A specification recommended).
- Fire proof gloves strongly recommended (SFI 3.3 specification recommended).
- A 4 or 5 point harness, properly mounted per manufacturers’ specifications, is required. Must have been manufactured in the last 5 years. Any worn, abraded or torn belts shall be replaced.
- A minimum 5 lb. fire extinguisher is recommended and should be securely mounted within drivers reach.
- Only racing-type seats, properly mounted per manufacturers’ specifications, are allowed. A full containment seat is strongly recommended. Cars equipped with full containment seats will receive a 50 lbs. weight break.
- A head and neck restraint system (SFI 16.1 compliant) is strongly recommended. Drivers using a head and neck restraint will receive a 50 lbs. weight reduction.
- Racing fuel cell and window nets are highly recommended.
- A firewall must be in place between driver compartment and fuel cells, fuel lines or tanks.
Miscellaneous Rules:
- SCDRA has final ruling on all questions of legality. A pre-race inspection will be made to ensure SAFETY only.

Section A Protest Rules / Claim Rules/ Fees
- Engine protest fee will be $500 For top end and $500 for bottom end, protesting driver must be in top 3 and on lead lap. Top end inspection to include heads, intake, bore, stroke, and full carburetor inspection.
- Crate engine claim fee will be $4500. Claiming driver must finish in the top 3 and on the lead lap. Engine removal will be overseen by tech officials and turned over to claiming team as it comes from GM. Whatever distributor is in the engine will go with the engine.
- Shock claim rule will be $100. per shock. Claiming party must finish in top 3 and on lead lap.
- In the event that the team whose engine or shocks are being claimed damages the part being claimed either accidentally or intentionally, the result will be automatic disqualification. They will retain ownership of damaged equipment and claiming team will be refunded their money.
- Tire protest fee will be $100. Any driver in the field may protest the tires of any driver in the field after qualifying, heat races, or feature.
- A total car protest will be $1600 and includes complete engine, transmission, rear end, and all suspension components.
- Any protest or claim must be turned in to tech officials within 10 minutes of completion of protesting party’s feature race.
- If either protesting party backs out of protest after paying protest fee, $100 will be retained by track.
- Any driver that refuses any claim or protest will be automatically disqualified
Section B Safety Rules
- Racing helmet (not motorcycle or DOT) SA 2005 or newer
- Full racing fire suit required.
- Fire rated racing gloves required.
- 4 – 5 point racing harness mounted per manufacturers specifications required.
- Two pound fire extinguisher mounted within drivers reach is required. (gauge must be good)
- Racing seat properly mounted per manufacturers specifications required. (Full containment seat strongly recommend)
- Properly mounted racing fuel cell required.
Section C Weight Rules
- Total weight required is 3300 lbs.
- A one (1) pound per lap weight break will be given for feature race only.
- Any lead or ballast must be painted white and have car number on it.
- There is no longer a weight break for a hans device or full containment seat, but both are highly recommended.
- No weight or ballast may be placed on rearend or suspension components.
- No weight will be allowed to be mounted above the firewall decking anywhere on car.
Section D Body Rules
- If fuel line runs inside car, it must either be in metal tubing (conduit), or be braided line.
- All weight and driveshaft must be painted white.
- A 10 pound fire extinguisher is required at the trailer of each car competing in competition.
- Racing (fire rated) shoes required.
- Window net not required but recommended.
- If battery is in driver compartment, it must be mounted properly and inside a battery box. 1. All body panels must be fabricated from steel or aluminum only, no fiberglass. 2. Body must be stock appearing for the make, model, and year of car. 3. No flat decking, decking must taper downward from trunk hinge area to rear of car. 4. Must have stock steel firewall in stock location from frame rail to frame rail. 5. Must have factory steel or fabricated steel floor pan and must run from front firewall to rear of drivers seat. If floor plan is fabricated, it must be same thickness or thicker as factory and retain factory shape.
- An aluminum or steel firewall is required from frame rail to frame rail behind driver seat. Rear firewall must extend from frame rail to decking.
- Rear of car may be open.
- Aftermarket plastic front and rear covers permitted, but must be stock appearing. (No Dominator Camaro style nose pieces)
- Rear spoilers are permitted, but must be a maximum of 4” high.
- Spoiler sides are permitted, but can be no larger than 18 1/2” long and 4 ½” high.
Section E Brakes
- Dual master cylinders with hanging pedals are permitted.
- No brake adjuster inside cockpit, may be mounted under hood on firewall.
- No cut offs of any kind on any corner of car.
- Must have four wheel working brakes. (If car is jacked up, and wheels spun, all 4 corners must stop)
- Must be stock type, single piston, steel calipers.
- Steel rotors only, no exotic metals.
- No gun drilled or scalloped rotors.
- Disc or drum brakes ok.
Section F Steering
- All steering components must be stock for year, make, and model unless otherwise noted.
- May run aftermarket steering box, but must be cast iron and in stock location.
- No heim end components.
- Center link must be stock size for year, make, and model of car.
- Stock type head or block mounted power steering pump only.
- Steering quickener is allowed.
- Collapsible steering shaft allowed.
- Heim joint steering shaft guide allowed.
Section G Front Suspension
- All factory mounts on frame must be in stock location. 2. Upper A frames may be tubular aftermarket, but must have cross shaft and be a maximum of 1” difference LF and RF. (No heim joint type A frames)
- Driver compartment may be boxed in, but must have an inspection panel that can be removed or opened for inspection of passenger side.
- No flat side bodies, doors, and quarters must taper inward at bottom towards the center of car.
- No flat roofs, roof must have a roll front to rear to resemble stock roof.
- No sharp bends in hood or fenders. Both must gradually roll towards nosepiece.
- No raised lips or sharp edges on body.
- Upper A frames must be in stoke holes on tower, no slotting of factory holes.
- Spindles must match year, make, and model of car being raced. (No 3 piece spindles)
- Lower control arms must match year, make, and model of car being raced, no modifications to length of A frame. (Ball joint placement must be stock)
- Aftermarket steel or rubber bushings are allowed in lower A frames.
- Adjustable cups allowed.
- No bump stops or bump springs, no internal bump stops.
- No chains, cables, or droop limiting devices of any kind.
- No notching of frame for steering arm clearance.
- No shimming of shocks, shocks must mount flat against factory location at bottom and in stock location at top. 12. Spring rubbers allowed.
- Racing springs allowed.
- Screw in ball joints allowed, no adjustable height ball joints allowed. Ball joint must be in stock location on lower A frame.
- Any length ball joint is ok.
- Five inch diameter springs required.
Section H Rear Suspension
- No spring buckets, upper spring perch must be in factory location.
- Adjustable cups allowed.
- Racing springs allowed.
- Spring rubbers allowed.
- No bump stops or bump springs.
- Lower springs perches must be centered on top of axle tube.
- Upper shock mount must be in stock location and shock must be mounted flat against mount. No shimming shock down.
- Lower end of shock must be mounted at same height, angle, and location on rearend. Lower mount must be behind and below bottom of axle tube.
- Aftermarket tubular trailing arms allowed, but must be non-adjustable and stock length.
- Trailing arms must have stock type rubber bushings, no monoballs or heims.
- Lower trailing arms must be 2 ¾” +/- ½” from bottom of axle tube and must be the same measurement (no offsetting)
- Lower trailing arm mount at frame must be the stock mount and in stock location.
- Upper trailing arms to be 3” +/- ½” from center of mounting bolt to top of rearend, must be same on both sides.
- Center of axle tube to center of mounting bolt to be 7 ¾” +/- ½”, must be the same on both sides.
- Upper trailing arm mount must be in stock location and trailing arm must be mounted in factory holes on chassis.
- Trailing arm mounts on rearend may not be adjustable by means of twisting the mount on rearend, mount must be in a fixed position.
- No bump stops/bump springs on rear suspension.
- Lowering blocks are ok, must not be adjustable.
- Adjustable shackles are ok, does not have to be in same hole on both sides.
- Leaf spring rear suspension “only” may run shock extensions or shock spacers on rear of car only. If running extensions/spacers, both sides must be the same. If running spacers, they must bolt through factory holes.
- No sliders on leaf springs.
- Front leaf spring mount must be factory stock and be bolted in factory holes.
- Leaf spring cars may run stock style “stud” mounted shocks or rubber bushing type shocks.
- No chains, cables, or droop limiting devices.
